week 6 12th-18th March

This week was a tough week in class especially in gymnastics. I wasn’t feeling the best and I had hurt my shins not a good start to the week! What made it worse was that the Maltese students in my class didn’t understand that I was feeling under the weather and kept asking and being rude about why I wasn't participating in the class and joining in as much as I usually do. I did join in the class as much as I could.

This week we had to contribute to the warm up, we all got in a circle and one at a time had think of a stretch that was dynamic or static and the circle had to copy. I was last to think of something which was difficult as everyone kept doing the stretches I was thinking about, however I thought of a stretch that started off by crouching down and bouncing your knees then jump straight up as high as possible stretching the whole body pointing your toes then repeat crouching down again etc. The lecturer complimented on my example I was well proud of myself!

The main activity in class today was how to complete a handstand and flip over and try to land on our feet. To start off we just practiced are handstands on the mat and had two spotters to flip you over so you landed safely. After that you then had to do the handstand and flip over onto the mat without the two spotters. The last steps for today was to go on a bigger mat which was like a trampoline and perform the handstand and flip over and try to land. I didn’t try this as I wasn't confident enough yet and terrified of being upside down! therefore I just spotted the others that tried it. As I said before this class was tough but hopefully I will be feeling better in the next class, as there is nothing worse than being away from home in a class with people you don’t know and not feeling too well!

In our management class on the Thursday we were told that our first assignment was to develop a marketing plan for a sports organisation of our choice I’m looking forward to get started on this (hope that didn’t sound too sarcastic).

Me and three other girls, Amy, Rebecca and Rosin decided to have a relaxed day at the Fortina spa in sliema, we are just so good to ourselves.  This was a fun day and we decided to get a privilege card as we loved the spa so much. We then spoilt ourselves by going to St Jillian’s to the steakhouse Meet. We were so happy to finally dig are teeth into a proper good steak! Had to be the nicest dinner I have had since I arrived in Malta, which to be honest isn’t that difficult as I am the worst cook ever!

Most of our friends that we had met decided to take a trip to Sicily therefore residence had been quieter than usual! Was weird not having them about and what made it worse was that the weather was extremely bad as a hurricane had hit, this meant it was going to be a boring week of course until they came back ready to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on the Saturday. Fortunately for all us Irish the weather had finally gotten better the sun was out not a cloud in the sky!
This was a great day which started at 10.30am with Irish music played throughout the whole residence and everyone joining in with the celebrations. We stayed in residence by the pool showing off some irish dancing and sing songs until the bus came to bring us to Pacevillie to watch the all-important Ireland vs. England rugby six nation match which I had excited to watch all day! We even made our own t-shirts for the occasion and wore funny Irish hats. Lucky for me and a friend called Amy we got into the most popular Irish pub the Dubliner to watch the match even though you needed a wrist band (we used our Irish charm) and met loads of other Irish students that were studying radiography in Jordanstown University, that just happened to have x-rayed my friend Rebecca’s arm weeks previous, such a coincidence. Well to my disappointment Ireland lost absolutely gutted! But that didn’t stop us from carrying on our celebrations the rest of the night in Pacevillie.
